Robert (Bob) Amor

RESUME:
Mr. Amor decided to be an architect in the eighth grade. His determination to be an architect led him to work his way through the architecture school of the University of Michigan requiring eleven years. During that period he worked in automobile related engineering offices which provided a practical basis for his architecture and an understanding of factory, assembly-line manufacturing.

At U of M Architecture College, he took the construction option which prepared him to do the structural design on almost all of his projects.

After working seven and a half years for other architectural firms, obtaining experience not only in design but all phases of architecture, he established his own architectural firm with dedication to providing a high standard of design, accuracy of plans and specifications, attention to details, cost control, and a "personalized" architectural service.

While maintaining his own office, he provided independent inspection for the Michigan State Housing Development for several projects including a 150 unit townhouse project which utilized factory built modules and a eight-story housing for the elderly that utilized factory built modules for the kitchens and bathrooms.

Together with his three sons, he built their complicated 3600 square foot home. He also designed and they built a spec tree house and several remodeling projects.

While his office was still in Michigan and he was designing two projects in California, he saw California as a state with tremendous growth and need for his architectural skills. He moved his office to Santa Cruz in 1982.

His early commitment to architecture in general was expanded to include construction management, one project with a cost of almost $2,000,000. The extent of this complete commitment led him to be the field superintendent for three months each for two projects, actually working side by side with the men on the site.

He and his wife have four children and nine grandchildren. Alyce is an artist creating porcelain sculpture. Son Robert has an architectural degree and a Master of Theology. Son Bill has a master's degree in architecture and is practicing architecture in Fullerton, CA and Las Vegas. Son Andy has a master's degree in architecture also and is practicing architecture in Atlanta. Daughter Connie has a degree in interior architecture from the University of California, Davis and is a teacher on the Beale AFB near Lake Wildwood, CA.
